Kathy Hilton On Motherhood With Paris And Nicky

October 05, 2007

Access Hollywood recently did an article titled 'Access Investigates Celebrity Moms: Kathy Hilton'. In this article, Access takes a look at Kathy Hilton's, 48, beginning as Hilton heir wife and mother to famous daughters, Paris, 26, and Nicky Hilton, 24.

Kathy Hilton's mother taught her that 'marrying rich was the goal.' Kathy followed her mother's advice and married hotel tycoon Richard Hilton, 52, when she was 19. When her first daughter, Paris, was born, Kathy and her mother believed that Paris was going to be famous. Vanity Fair's Judith Newman told Access:

She and her mother started calling Paris 'Star' and they really did think to themselves this is going to be someone bigger than Monroe [Marilyn], bigger than Princess Di.

The paparazzi became familiar with Paris and Nicky's names very early in life as Kathy and Richard hosted parties in their daughters' names. Kathy told Access that she appreciates the paparazzi:

They're always wonderful and sweet with us. I believe they are doing their job.

Kathy also commented on drawing the line between friend and mother to her daughters, Paris and Nicky. Kathy said:

You know what? We are very, very close. We are on the phone, but I am their mother you know. There is that fine line.

Kathy thinks her daughter Paris is a very hardworking woman. She told the German press:

Paris works so hard. I always say, Paris, you also have to stop now and again and smell the roses.

Ultimately, Kathy believes that she is a strict but loving mother. She said:

I am very strict. I call my daughter up and say, ‘That is enough now, stop, I don’t want to hear any more. You better stay home.'

Besides Paris and Nicky, Kathy and Richard Hilton are also parents to Barron, 17, and Conrad Hilton, 13.
