Trailer Trash: Rating The Latest Movie Trailers January 31, 2008 THE HOTTIE & THE NOTTIE Scheduled release date: Feb. 8 Sometimes I worry that, secretly, I'm just looking for reasons to pick on Paris Hilton. Ha ha. Just kidding. I never worry about that. Besides, doesn't the girl deserve it - especially after her post-jail "Larry King Live" interview? Hey Paris, remember that time you were going to learn from your mistakes and take advantage of your social standing to "raise awareness for so many great causes." Surely, "The Hottie & the Nottie" is not what you meant, right? OK, OK, maybe that is unfair - even Angelina Jolie is allowed to have a little dumb fun now and again. But seriously, P., "The Hottie & the Nottie"??? This is, after all, a movie in which a character piggishly declares that "the hotness of one girl is directly proportional to the ugliness of her best friend." And this is a movie in which we are asked to believe that a geeky sweetheart (Joel David Moore), nursing a lifelong love for a beauty (Hilton), moves to L.A. to be near her and finds out he stands a chance in you-know-what. Only catch: She won't go out with him until her homely best friend (Christine Lakin) also finds a date. The plot, in theory, could be kind of nice, but it's riddled with so many snickering, sexist, derogatory looks-obsessed jokes that, well, it's nottie. Sorry, couldn't resist. Rating: Zero dancing popcorn guys (out of 4) From-http://www.kansascity.com/412/story/469398.html |
