Blackouts And Blowouts And Makeouts

On Friday night, the Sundance parties are in full swing
as more celebs flock to the fest. Maroon 5 is performing at MySpace
Nights at Tao, and people are packing Main Street waiting to get in.
I make my way inside the crowded venue, where Paris Hilton is already
partying and Mary-Kate Olsen is hanging with DJ Samantha Ronson after
the premiere of her movie The Wackness.
As I'm heading towards the bar, the music suddenly stops and the lights
go out. I figure Maroon 5 must be going on soon, but after a few minutes
of darkness, it's obvious that they've lost power. And it's not just
Tao that's without juice...all of Main Street is pitch black. I bump
into Ian Ziering in the dark, who's taking a tequila shot. If there's
no electricity, at least there's alcohol!
Twenty minutes later, the lights come back on to loud
cheers from partygoers. Maroon 5 finally takes the stage around 11:30,
playing new hits from their latest album as well as old favorites like
"This Love." After sticking around for a few songs, I make
my way over to Stereo for the BPM magazine party. Apparently, Paris
had the same idea, as she was just there too. But it seems something's
(or someone's) raining on her party parade. "She just left in tears,"
says my party pal. What gives, girlfriend?
Two friends left with Paris when she ran out, while sister Nicky stayed
behind with her boyfriend David Katzenberg to canoodle at a corner table.
Around 1:30 a.m., I decide to go check out the 5W Escape afterhours
party. As our group gets into a shuttle, I see Paris heading back into
the party. Guess she got over whatever she was pouting about earlier.
After what feels like an hour of driving around the mountain looking for the house, our driver is beyond lost and I'm beyond tired. I decide to call it a night and save the afterhours partying for Saturday night instead. But my friend who did make it to 5W reports that Paris was making out with Simon Rex all night.
Right now, I'm off to check out more swag suites, interview 50 Cent and spot celebs, of course. Jessica Alba is scheduled to hit Kari Feinstein's Style Lounge today, and I just heard about a party where rumored couple Lindsay Lohan and Adrian Grenier are both expected tonight...stay tuned!
