Paris Hilton says seeing lions, buffalos and leopards on safari was "the greatest experience" ever.

The hotel heiress - who is on tour in South Africa with her new boyfriend Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden - came face to face with a variety of big game animals while staying at Cape Town's Aquila Private Game Reserve this week.

Searl Derman, owner of the reserve, said: "Paris and Benji said it was the greatest experience they'd ever had. Paris said that although she had travelled the world, waking up to the roar of lions was unique."

Paris - who met Benji through her best friend Nicole Richie, who is engaged to his twin brother Joel - stayed with the musician in the reserve's honeymoon suite, before going to see Good Charlotte perform at the My Coke Fest 2008 music festival.

During their trip, the new couple also viewed traditional Khoisan rock art and went on long drives to observe game in its natural habitat.
